Margaret Miller
Margaret
is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with over 30 years experience in
nutrition and dietetics. She is coordinating the development of a new
Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics course at ECU, to commence in July
2009.
Her clinical interests are in nutritional deficiency disorders, diet in pregnancy, and weight management.
Her research interests are in the determinants and monitoring of eating habits. Current projects include the 2008 Child & Adolescent Physical Activity and Nutrition Survey, studies of the role of diet during pregnancy in acute lymphatic leukaemia and brain cancer in children, and engagement of primary health care providers in obesity prevention in pre-school children.
She sits on numerous government and other nutrition advisory committees related to food in school and health facility canteens, evaluation of physical activity programs and Healthway funded health research. She is also an advisor to Health and Medicine, West Australian Newspapers.
